Privacy Policy

AV Wings is a global private aviation marketplace that connects private passengers and brokers with aircraft operators, pilots, flight crew, and ground-handling / service partners. The Services let people search and book private charter flights and empty-leg flights, list and manage aircraft and fleets, find and apply for aviation jobs, log flight and duty hours, message counterparties, make and receive payments, and manage regulatory and professional documentation.

AV Wings Inc. is the entity responsible for the Services and acts as the data controller for the personal information described in this Policy, unless stated otherwise.

We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically when you use the Services, and information we receive from third parties (such as Google, when you sign in with your Google account).

2.1 Account & profile information

• Full name, email address, and phone number
• Password (stored in encrypted/hashed form)
• Date of birth
• Profile photo / avatar
• Account type (private client/broker, pilot, flight crew or engineer, aircraft operator, service partner, or administrator)
• If you sign in with Google: your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier

2.2 Professional, regulatory & verification documents

Because AV Wings serves a regulated industry, we ask certain account types to upload identity and professional documentation to verify eligibility and keep the marketplace safe. Depending on your account type, this may include:

• Private clients: passport scan and government-issued ID
• Pilots: pilot licence, licence/certification number, medical certificate, medical class, and specialty
• Flight crew & engineers: professional licence and background-check documentation
• Aircraft operators: Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and AOC number, insurance policy, business licence, company name, and primary base ICAO code
• Service partners: business licence, insurance policy, company name, and airport/base code

These documents may contain sensitive information (for example, government ID numbers or medical information on a pilot medical certificate). We only use them to verify your identity and professional credentials, to comply with applicable aviation and safety regulations, and to display verification status to counterparties on the marketplace — we do not use them for any other purpose.

2.3 Booking, marketplace & payment information

• Charter requests, bookings, empty-leg listings, aircraft listings, and job postings/applications you create or respond to
• Flight and duty-hour logs you record in the app
• Dispute details and supporting evidence you submit
• Wallet balance, transaction history, and payment metadata. Card and bank details are collected and processed directly by our payment processors (Paystack and Flutterwave) — AV Wings does not receive or store your full card number

2.4 Communications & support

• Messages you send other users through the in-app inbox/chat
• Emails, support tickets, and other correspondence with our team

2.5 Location information

With your permission, we collect your device's location while you are using the app to show nearby airports and FBOs, help you search a location on a map, display aircraft locations, and pre-fill location fields during booking. We only access location while the app is in use — we do not track your location in the background or when the app is closed.

2.6 Camera & files

With your permission, we access your camera to let you take a profile photo or scan a document/membership pass, and access your device's file picker to let you upload documents (PDF, JPG, or PNG) such as the verification documents described above. We only access these when you actively choose to take a photo or upload a file.

2.7 Device & usage information (collected automatically)

• Device model, operating system, and app version
• IP address and general network connectivity status
• Push-notification token, used to deliver alerts about bookings, messages, and account activity
• App diagnostics and log data (for example, to debug crashes and errors)

The AV Wings mobile app requests the following device permissions. You can review and change these at any time in your device settings; the app will continue to work, though some features may be limited if a permission is denied.

We use the information described above to:

• Create, secure, and authenticate your account
• Verify the identity and professional credentials of pilots, crew, operators, and service partners
• Operate the marketplace — matching clients, operators, pilots, crew, and service partners, and enabling bookings, charter requests, empty-leg listings, and job postings
• Process payments, payouts, and refunds
• Enable in-app messaging between users involved in a booking, job, or transaction
• Provide customer support and resolve disputes
• Send transactional communications and push notifications (booking confirmations, messages, security alerts)
• Send product updates or marketing communications, where you have not opted out
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
• Comply with applicable aviation, safety, anti-money laundering, and other legal or regulatory obligations
• Analyse and improve the Services, and develop new features

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With other users, as needed for the marketplace to work — for example, an operator considering a pilot for a job can see relevant profile and licence information, and a client and operator can see each other's booking-relevant details once a booking is created
• With service providers who process data on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, file/document storage, payment processing, email delivery, and push notifications (see Section 6)
• For legal reasons — to comply with a legal obligation, respond to lawful requests from courts or regulators (including aviation authorities), or to protect the rights, property, or safety of AV Wings, our users, or the public
• In a business transfer — if AV Wings is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction
• With your consent — for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time you provide the information

We work with the following categories of trusted third-party providers to operate the Services. Each processes data on our behalf, under their own privacy and security terms:

• Payment processors (Paystack, Flutterwave) — to process payments, payouts, and wallet transactions
• Cloud document/image storage (Cloudinary) — to securely store uploaded documents, photos, and avatars
• Authentication & maps (Google Sign-In, Google Maps) — to let you sign in with Google and to display maps and location search
• Email delivery (Resend and our SMTP provider) — to send account verification codes, receipts, and other transactional emails
• Push notifications (Expo push notification service) — to deliver in-app alerts
• Cloud infrastructure — to host our servers, databases, and application code

These providers are only permitted to use your information as necessary to provide their services to us, and not for their own independent purposes.

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. We also retain information for as long as required to:

• Comply with aviation, financial, tax, or other legal record-keeping obligations (which may require retaining certain booking, payment, and licence records beyond account closure)
• Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
• Prevent fraud and abuse

When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or anonymise it so it can no longer be linked to you.

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage of passwords, access-controlled databases, and secure on-device storage of session tokens. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to continually improve our safeguards and to respond promptly to any suspected incident.

AV Wings operates globally, and the third-party providers described in Section 6 may store and process information in countries other than the one in which you live, including Nigeria, the United States, and other jurisdictions. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it receives an appropriate level of protection, including through contractual safeguards with our service providers.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, update, download, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent you previously gave us. You can exercise most of these directly in the app:

• Access & update your profile — Settings → Personal Information
• Manage documents — Settings → Documents
• Manage notification preferences — Settings → Notifications
• Delete your account — Settings → Personalisation → Delete Account (see Section 11)

For anything you cannot manage directly in the app, contact us at privacy@avwings.com and we will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests, and some information may be exempt from deletion where we have a legal or regulatory obligation to keep it (see Section 7).

You can permanently delete your AV Wings account at any time, directly in the app:

1. Open the AV Wings app and go to your profile
2. Tap Settings → Personalisation
3. Tap Delete Account and confirm

Deleting your account removes your profile, uploaded documents, and other personal information associated with your account, except for information we are required to retain for legal, regulatory, safety, or financial record-keeping purposes (for example, transaction records needed for tax or anti-fraud compliance, described in Section 7). If you are unable to access the app, you can request account and data deletion by emailing support@avwings.com from your registered email address.

The Services involve financial transactions and professional/regulatory aviation credentials and are not directed at, or intended for use by, children. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in violation of this Policy, we will take steps to delete it.

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some website functionality. The mobile app uses secure on-device storage instead of browser cookies to keep you signed in.

European Economic Area, UK & Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we process your personal information under one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, compliance with a legal obligation, and your consent. You have the rights described in Section 10, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, to request deletion or correction of your information, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. AV Wings does not sell personal information. You can exercise these rights using the contact details in Section 10.

Nigeria & other jurisdictions

We process personal information in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and other applicable data protection laws in the countries where we operate. Requests under any applicable local law can be made using the contact details in Section 16.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Services, the law, or our practices. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or an in-app notice before the changes take effect. The "Effective date" at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
