This aircraft, last flown by the US Coast Guard, is carries the designation HC-131 Samaritan. Used as a recon and ambulance plane, the HC-131 was the military version of the Convair 340 airliner. First delivered in 1952, some 200 had been built when production ended in 1955. This aircraft served the Coast guard up until the late 70's.
Maximum takeoff weight was 47,000 pounds and it could carry up to 44 passengers in airline configurations.
