The Vought F-8 Crusader was a single-seat carrier based fighter first operated in 1957. It had a variable incidence wing which allowed the nose and fuselage to droop giving the pilot a better view of the carrier deck on landing.
Powered by an 18,000 pound thrust engine, the F-8 could reach speeds of 1,300 mph with a takeoff weight of 34,000 pounds.
This Crusader, located in Pueblo, Colorado, shows some signs of age but is otherwise a fine display. Note the short but sturdy carrier landing gear.
