The Republic F-84 Thunderjet was one of the USAF's early jet fighters. Originally powered by a 3,700 pound thrust engine, the machine was considered highly advanced back in 1947 when it was first delivered to the US Air Force. Later models were equipped with 5,000 pound thrust engines.
Some F-84's were used in Korea as B-29 escort fighters. They were generally outmatched by their MIG counterparts and was already obsolete when the F-86 came onto the scene a short time later.
This example, in bad need of some TLC, sits at the Fred E. Weisbrod museum in Pueblo, Colorado.
