This 106 passenger airliner, first flown in 1962 was called the "Coronado" by Convair. American Airlines bought one of the first and they could be seen in service until the late 70's.
This example, aquired by NASA and used as an inflight testing platform, was somewhat short lived. It eventually burned up on the runway after a tire burst and cought fire.
As an airliner, it was fairly fast, able to fly at speeds of up to 615 miles per hour and could gross up to 253,000 pounds. Each engine produced 16,000 pounds of thrust.
